BBH Freediving Event

News Bizzy crewBBH Freediving Event was due to start it’s 4th yearly event on 20th April 2010, with BEFX acting as the official film crew for the 3rd year running, but due to the Icelandic Volcanic Ash Cloud, many of the competitors and the event organiser Sebastian Naslund, were stranded with no way of getting to Dahab until the skies had cleared.

The 2 week event, had to be cancelled, but because some 30 athletes has already made it to Dahab, Free Dive Dahab, stepped up to the mark and hosted a scaled down version of the event starting on 23rd April with the Static Discipline in the pool – BEFX were on hand to capture the results. A good job that Free Dive Dahab are also AIDA judges, so could officiate this event.

Between the 24th & 29th April the deep discipline competitions were held at the famous Blue Hole, Dahab.  CWT (Constant Weight), CNF (Constant No Fins) and FIM (Free Immersion) were the categories being fought over.  Conditions were perfect, everyone was in good spirits, the water was crystal clear and many National records were won during the course of the competition.

Constant Weight (CWT) Jarmila Slovencikova 83 Mtrs Czech National Record
Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) Wendy Timmermans 47 Mtrs Dutch National Record
Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) Alon Rivkind 53 Mtrs Israeli National Record
